Let’s Cook Indian

What you’ll cook:

  • Two snacks-Onion Bhaji, Vegetable samosas
  • Two mains- Chicken tikka masala, Lamb fry
  • Two sides- Toor Daal, Spinach paneer
  • A quick cheats pilau rice
  • Mango Lassi

Indian Cookery Course content:

Indian cuisine incorporates 6 predominant elements, sweet salty, sour, pungent, bitter and astringent we will learn to layer spices and aromatics and combining hot with sour, spicy with sweet, all in flavourful dishes that are guaranteed crowd pleasers.  You will learn the best ways to create flavour using fresh spices, releasing essence and getting the balance right to create a classic Indian meal. there will be hands on cooking, together with demonstrations.  Once your flavourful feast is made you will learn how best to present the dishes ready to be served, taking the stress out of cooking for a crowd. 

What to expect:

On arrival tea, coffee and fresh pastries will be ready for you to enjoy.  You are welcome to arrive early and stroll around the house, leaf through the cookery books in the library or wonder around the garden weather permitting and play with the kittens.

The course starts promptly at 10am.

In the morning, you will join Sophie and Karen in a discussion about the spices that go into the chicken tikka and how to get the best flavour. You will then prep  the lamb and get it in the oven so it cooks for at least 4 hours. You will then get stuck in  making the onion bhajis and samosas ready for lunch. 

Enjoy a late lunch together with an Indian inspired cocktail/mocktail.

Following lunch you will make the chicken Tikka Masala and accompanying sides. Sophie will then show you how to display your beautiful buffet and you will make a Mango Lassi to enjoy while we box up your curry to take home
