Let’s Cook Thai
What you’ll cook:
- Three starters-Chicken prawn and Fruit salad, Tom Yun Goong (hot sour prawn soup) Thai Fish cakes
- Red Chicken Thai curry with Jasmine rice
- Flying Greens
- Key lime pie recipe
- Mango and Coconut ice creams
Discover the flavours of Thai food and learn how to achieve a classic Thai menu with a bit of a twist in the pudding course. Start off by making your own homemade red Thai paste, discovering the depth of flavour that each ingredient brings, and learn to make a base stock for a classic Tom Yun Goong, hot sour prawn soup. Bringing specialist ingredients together, you will learn the skills of layering sweet, sour, salty and spicy and how to balance these core elements in classic Thai cooking. You will do hands on cooking together with technical demonstrations. To finish the class you will learn how to present these dishes along with all the tips and tricks to take the stress out of cooking for a crowd, before tucking in to your delicious ice cream. You will take home your very own homemade red Thai curry paste along with some of the dishes you make.
What to expect:
On arrival tea, coffee and fresh pastries will be ready for you to enjoy. You are welcome to arrive early and stroll around the house, play with the cats, leaf through the cookery books in the library or wonder around the garden weather permitting.
The course starts promptly at 10am.
In the morning, you will join Sophie and Karen in preparing the red Thai curry paste along with the ice creams and key lime pie.
This will be followed by making the soup and salad which you will enjoy as a late lunch with a Thai inspired cocktail/mocktail.
Following lunch you will make the Thai fish cakes, Thai red curry and side dishes where Sophie and Karen will show you how to put everything together, ready to display for your guests.
To finish the day, you will enjoy another cocktail while nibbling the fish cakes as we box up your dishes to take home for dinner.
